Genotype Selection, and Seed Uniformity and Multiplication to Ensure Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) var. Liborino

چکیده

Seed uniformity and stability testing, multiplication, are key steps in the seed supply chain of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) other crops. Optimizing agronomical practices these phases can ultimately ensure quality availability, germplasm prospective utilization. However, farmers have rarely standardized testing propagation protocols local landraces conserved situ. An example this is Liborino variety (var.), a promising yellow Andean known for its presumably high digestibility adaptation to conditions Cauca river canyon (northwest Andes Colombia), but likely experiencing genetic erosion after decades suboptimal propagation. Therefore, work intended evaluate select locally adapted genotypes var. commercial use, be later multiplied, evaluated by participatory breeding, eventually shared with farmers. Specifically, we 44 accessions six adaption yield field trials at 1100 1400 m a.s.l, AGROSAVIA’s “La Selva” research station 2100 a.s.l. In parallel, carried out multiplication genotype using best guarantee stability. From accessions, nine were well tested conditions. Four exhibited bush type growth habit, while remaining five climbers. The revealed maximum average extrapolated yields up 1169.4 ± 228.4 kg ha−1 types (G8152) 1720.0 588.4 climbers (G51018), both Three climbing matched farmers’ expectations coat color shape, according selection exercise. Uniform stable selected was delivered 2022 39 farmers, ~6.5 seeds per farmer. Our results will allow implementing improvement pipelines, promoting commercialization, boosting economic sustainable development rural communities canyon. pipelines must extended

Abortive Seed Development in Common Bean (phaseolus Vulgaris L.)

INTRODUCTION Embryo defective mutants in Phaseolus vulgaris obtained by Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) induction were studied to determine the structural and molecular basis of seed abortion in this species. In the wild-type, the classical pattern of seed development showed coordinated differentiation of the embryo proper, suspensor, endosperm tissue, and seed coat. On the contrarily, EMS mutant ...

Effect of water supply on seed quality development in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris var.)

In order to determine the best developmental stage of three common bean cultivars (Talash, COS16 and Khomain) at which maximum seed quality is attained under different irrigation regimes (I1-irrigation after 60 mm, I2-irrigation after 80 mm and I3-irrigation after 100 mm evaporation from class A pan), a split plot experiment (using R.C.B. design) with 3 replications was conducte...

Volatile Compounds of Dry Bean Seed {phaseolus Vulgaris L.)

Volatile compounds of uncooked dry bean {Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars representing 3 market classes (black, dark red kidney and pinto) grown in 2005 were isolated with headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME), and analyzed with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS). A total of 62 volatiles consisting of aromatic hydrocarbons, aldehydes, alkanes, alcohols and ketones represented...

Selection of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes using a genotype plus genotype x environment interaction biplot.

Recently, the genotype plus genotype x environment interaction (GGE) biplot methodology has been used to investigate genotype x environment interactions in several crop species, but has not been applied to the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crop in Brazil. The aim of this study was to identify common bean genotypes that exhibit high grain yield and stability in the State of Mato Grosso do ...

Seed Development and Reserve Compound Accumulation in Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Much of what we know today on the molecular aspects of seed development comes from basic studies carried out in the model species Arabidopsis. However, many differences exist between the developmental programs of the small seeds of Arabidopsis, basically without nutritional reserves, and the crop legume seeds, which are bigger and accumulate nutrients designated to germination. Since seed nutri...
